Installing WINE on Ubuntu

Today I decided that I needed to run uTorrent on Ubuntu.  I know that there are other Bit Torrent program that run natively on Linux (or Ubuntu), but I am really comfortable with uTorrent.   So in order to do that I needed WINE.  From the WINE website:  Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix.  So how do you do that you ask?  Well I haven’t a clue, but I know how to find the answer.

Just head on over to the good folks at on the UbuntuGuide.org (it’s even updated to Feisty).  Installing WINE can be found here.  Just be prepared to open up the command prompt (Applications > Accessories > Terminal).  After that Copy & Paste this code: ( sudo aptitude install wine ), and enter your password when prompted.  You’ll see some text fly by, and then it will ask you to install 2 new packages.  Just hit Y for yes.  It will then download and install the necessary software.

That’s it.  WINE is set up and ready to go!  :)
