Trying out a new Theme!
I just uploaded the iNove theme and decided to give it a whirl. I kind of like it, I think I need to make a few tweaks to make me really happy though.

I did a complete upgrade to WordPress 2.1 today. The actual upgrade was very painless. I decided to to a completely clean install. I first decided to backup my site (the files and the database). I then deleted the files from the server. Next was to upload the new version, and run the upgrade.php page. And, that’s it. Done.
I took this time to clean up and update the plugins I am using. Like I said it was very easy. Let me know if you find and bugs!
WordPress 2.1 comes out tomorrow and I found a site that list 10 things to look out for. I’ve recently started using WordPress for Techiegeeks, and I have to say that I really like it. It works very nicely for a blog. Plus, it is easily expanded by the limitless plugins. They seem to tailor it to any user, you really do not need any sort of Web Design education to get a site up and running. I think that is great. Isn’t that what computers are for? Shouldn’t it be easy to set up a blog? Well it is if you you WordPress.
Anyway, check out the 10 thing to look for in 2.1 here.
Yesterday there was an upgrade to WordPress bringing the current version to 2.0.7. Apparently, there was a bug with certain versions of PHP. I decided that today I would run the upgrade.
In typical WordPress fashion, the upgrade was very simple. I basically just uploaded the new version (overwriting any existing files). I then went to the upgrade.php page and clicked next. I was then greeted with a friendly message stating the the upgrade completed successfully. Way too easy (unless I’m upgrading incorrectly).
Check out the upgrade info on WordPress’s site.
Found a “Bug” with WordPress 2.0.5. It has to do with posting and Update Services. Every time I made a new post I would get redirected to a blank page. The new post was created but it did not have any tags. I have since removed all the suggested servers in Update Services and now posting works fine. I then put just http://rpc.pingomatic.com, and it still worked.
It seems like the other servers were giving me problems. I have yet to replace any of them and I am not sure if I need them. I’m still learning about blogging and WordPress.
Well it appears that I got the Tag Cloud working. I’m not sure I care for it thought. I’m still trying to figure out the difference between categories and tags. They seem to be the same thing. Oh well, now I need to start posting.
It’s been real slow at work today so I decided to play around with this site. I found a real nice theme for WordPress called Glued Ideas – Subtle 0.391. It was made by Christopher Frazier at Gluedideas.com. I really like the layout. I also put my Leet Photoshop skillz into effect and created a new header for the theme. I’m not 100 percent sure that I like it, I think I need to tweak the font for the title.
I also updated to WordPress 2.05. I just overwrote the files already on the site. My first visit to the site asked to upgrade the database. Very simple.
Let me know what you think. I still have a few things to do. I think tomorrow I’ll see if I can get the silly Tag cloud on the sidebar. I just need to be trendy!
